Ark: Survival Evolved is largely focused on getting getting the best possible Dinos for yourself and your tribe. One of the most effective ways to do that is through breeding. The purpose of breeding Dinos is simple.
As most Ark players will know, Dinos have eight basic stats for heath, oxygen, stamina, food, weight, base damage, movement speed and torpor.
Breeding has no real impact on torpor or movement speed, but it still allows you the chance to essentially birth Dinos with the stats you covet most. You need a male and female of the same species that have strong stats.
For example, breed your high-health Rex if you want another high-heath Rex. The actual process can be done a few different ways. The idea is to get the male and female close to each other and setting them to wander. The issue with that, of course, is that once you hit wander, the pair will just ignore each other.
Players have found a few ways to circumvent this. This prompts a mating progress bar to fill up. Pick it up immediately. The next step is to hatch the egg or birth the mammal. For eggs, the basic idea is to keep the egg health and egg temperature bars high until the egg can hatch.
For mammals you have to be ready to commit a little more. Just keep the mother in a safe place and feed her through a trough until the pregnancy meter fills.
You have a 10 percent chance of twins and a 2 percent chance of triplets. Simply put, you need to be there as soon as the hatch or birth so you can approach the Dino, look at its inventory and imprint it. After imprinting just keep feeding the baby berries or raw meat depending on diet. Breeding is a simple procedure, but the results of it are fairly complex. Increasing the multiplier value makes the above processes faster.
That will help for single-player. Online, many servers have these multipliers active by default. Check out our Tek Tier guide and updated admin commands for even more help! When you see a red heart above the head of your Dinos, that means they're mating. Keep the two partners close together to fill the mating meter.

I was playing around with a some of the settings and haven't been able to find a happy medium.
I'd like to maintain the default balance, but have it matched with the reduced timeframe. Showing 1 - 15 of 18 comments. Nobody has any insight on using the settings? Erathanos View Profile View Posts.
If you speed up the hatch time and maturity 5 x, would it not make sense to also speed up the imprinting time to match? More often means you'll need to cuddle with them more frequently to gain Imprinting Quality. Set it to 0 to effectively disable the system. Last edited by Erathanos ; 19 Jun, pm. It seems to be more or less working. Gigas however, take a long time and a lot of effort to imprint. Cuddle interval is how often. Lower value means more often. Cuddle grace is how long after it first wants to interact do you have to interact with it.
Higher number more time I assume, but I don't know the default length. Cuddle lose imprint is like a decay time before it starts to lose imprint should you not interact when the baby dino wants to. Higher number gives you more time. Originally posted by Northlander :. That would kinda sorta make sense. Again, haven't thoroughly tested this, but that's my current understanding.
Scyphonic View Profile View Posts. What would we need for settings based around a x4 Maturation Speed? Last edited by Scyphonic ; 21 Jul, am.Use our custom tool to configure the game and server settings for the various aspects of breeding, egg laying, mating and imprinting in Ark.
You no longer have to dig through the code, this tool will create it for you. Just adjust the settings to your liking and then follow the instructions below the tool to install the code in your game or on your server.
These settings control how frequently you will need to cuddle with the baby to imprint. They also affect how many times you will have to cuddle, as well as various settings related to maturation. These settings control how often dinos lay eggs, how often they can mate, how long mating takes, and how long it takes for the egg to hatch. The server cannot be running while you edit these files.
Shut it down, make a copy of your 'Saved' directory and put it somewhere safe. This directory can be found in the 'ShooterGame' directory of your Ark Server.

This will backup your world, character profiles, and current configuration files just in case. That is why I said earlier that it is important to read the instructions and information. If something goes wrong you can just restore your backed up files and be back to where you started.
Now we need to edit the Game. The first line in the box may already exist in your file. If so, omit this line when you copy your code and simply place the code below the line already existing in your file. To find your Game. If you have already added code to this file, then there are two possibilities.
Look at the custom code generated by our tool. If the first line already exists in your Game. But do copy everything else and put it in your Game. If the first line you see in our code box does not exist in your Game. As a final note, if you have already tried to setup these settings, then you must remove all of that code and replace it all with the code from this tool. Having information specified more than once can cause havoc with the server.
Now we have to test things. Make sure you have saved the changes to the Game. Then start your server and login to the game with your game client. Then disconnect from your server and shut it down. Check the Game. If the server likes the code, it will all still be there. If there was a problem with it, then the server will have replaced the file with a fresh copy that is blank. Personally I think bigger intervals less interactions, but more percentage each is better. Plus less interactions mean less chance needing a certain kibble. You can't adjust imprint requirements food, cuddle, walk, etc. It depends on if you have the single player setting enabled.
My current settings have it enabled along with these setting:. They also grow pretty fast as I play with small groups. TemperanceXIV what about these what should i set them. Baby Imprinting Stat Scale is entirely up to you, the higher it is the higher the babies stats should go up by per cuddle.

Last edited by ArachKing ; 1 Nov, pm. Can anyone confirm that?Breeding is a feature of ARK: Survival Evolved that allows players to breed improved creatures through Eggs with non-mammals and gestation with mammals.
Eggs do not have an owner, so it's possible to steal eggs laid by other survivors' dinos. Newborn creatures are simply claimed imprinted on and do not require the usual taming processes associated with wild creatures.
Anyone can claim a newborn. This must be done promptly, along with feeding it, as babies can die quickly from hunger. The first step of breeding is having two opposite sex creatures of the same species for mating. Original and Aberrant Dinosaur variants count as separate species, and as such, cannot be cross-bred. Most creatures can be bred; those few that cannot are listed at the bottom of this article.
See Sterile Creatures for more information. Note: One of the developers Cedric ComplexMinded confirmed that there is no creature in game with ability to affect the chances of mutations, twins, triplets etc. The mating range varies between species and is loosely based on the size of the adult creature. Building a pen of a suitably small size to keep the wandering animals within mating range of each other is one common approach.
If you do not want to build a pen, you can go onto the creature commands and enable mating, this will make the creatures stand still and then they will start to mate. This halts all dinos within the area to stop moving, even ones that are enabled to wander. It's best to use the whistle every time the dino starts to move again, or to prevent the dinos from ever moving, whistle constantly. While this method doesn't need a pen, it does need you or a tribe member to stay there and constantly whistle.
This may be more helpful if one survivor is constantly whistling not to move, and another survivor enables the creatures nearby to wander and mate. In this way, you can achieve mass breeding in an area without ever building a pen, or moving creatures. Alternatively, you can set the dinos you want them to mate to that state without the burden of them wandering around.
To initiate breeding of a pair by yourself, whistle both creatures to follow you, then enable wandering or mating. Then, disable following on both. This prevents them from walking around in the meantime. Then no mating pen is needed. When the above conditions are all met, a beating heart icon appears over the heads of the mating creatures, and a mating bar appears on the female's HUD look at the female to reveal the HUD. The HUD also indicates which creature they are mating with. Ensure the mating animals remain close together, as otherwise the mating stops.Easy 100% Imprint for non dedicated servers!!! With settings
Due to server lag and game mechanics, the mating bar does not continuously update in real time. Additionally, mating multiple females to a single male at the same time can make this worse. Patience is advised as the bar moves in leaps and bounds. Once the mating bar is completed, non-mammalian females drop a single fertilized eggand mammalian females start gestating. If there are too many tamed dinos in the server or in the tribe, the pair will refuse to mate until there is a free spot.
Females cannot mate again until a mating wait interval has passed Cryofreezing them will still continue the mating interval cooldown.Home Discussions Workshop Market Broadcasts.
